91 Robert Parker
Zinfandel has always been a top-flight candidate from this vineyard, and the 2013 Zinfandel offers loads of full-bodied, briary fruit, some spice box, incense, and baking spices. It is dense ruby/purple, full-bodied, powerful, and best drunk over the next 3-4 years.
This is old vine Zinfandel done right! Complex and multi-layered, exuding attractive briar mountain berry fruit with hints of crushed rock, earth, pepper and some savory Provenal herbs. A mouth coating richness builds the mid-palate, with fine-grained tannins taking the wine to a long, satisfying finish.
